Super Food Smoothie

I've recently been researching raw foods, which to my understanding is unmatched by cooked foods due to the nutrients that are lost during to cooking process. One person who's research I've found to be very thought provoking is David Wolfe. I've found his methods to be the most appropriate for implementing raw foods within ones diet. Wolfe's strategy is to simply add raw food to ones diet, instead of taking things out - the more raw food added, the better. Of course all of his video's will be featured on Mudutu.com, when the site launches to the public. In the mean time I highly suggest to research raw foods and the benefits they contribute to your well-being. David also discusses emerging "Superfoods" such as raw Cacao & Goji berries which contain a "powerhouse" of nutrients & antioxidants that far exceed the nutrition of your average fruit or vegetable. An easy way to include Raw & Super food to ones diet is by drinking a smoothie! I have been drinking a raw, superfood smoothie for breakfast the past 5 days, and I must admit once I started the immediate benefits such as increased energy have me convinced and excited to continue such a healthy regime.

I thought I would share my "Raw Superfood Smoothie" recipe incase anyone is interested in trying such a easy, healthy, and beneficial activity.

Raw Superfood Smoothies:

Here are some options which you can use to mix and match according to your preference.

The fundamentals of a smoothie:

  • 1 Banana
  • 1 Carrot
  • Frozen Berries
  • Frozen Mango
  • Nut-milk (I use Hemp-milk)
  • Orange Juice
  • Spinach (I highly recommend, adds so much nutrition to the smoothie, and doesn't sacrifice the taste at all)

These supplements will put your Health & Nutrition on another level.

  1. * Chia Seed (Salvia Hispanica) - a highly nutritious seed loaded that contains more Omega 3 then fresh Salmon, more protein then Soy, more fiber then Flaxseed, 5x more calcium than Milk, and 3x more antioxidants than Blueberries!
  2. * Raw Chocolate/Cacao - The raw bean of which all chocolate products originate, this bean is high in Flavinoids, and promotes the circulation of Nitric Oxide.
  3. Chlorella - A single-celled green algae that is packed with an array of phytonutrients
  4. * Hemp Seed - a previously overlooked but emerging super food is Hemp Seed! This seed contains high concentration of complete easily digestible protein, as well as EFAs.
  5. * Goji Berries - These berries originating from Asia are full of vitamins & antioxidants.
  6. Wheat Grass Powder - Important for ensuring your daily greens with chlorophyll, amino acids, minerals, vitamins, and enzymes.

If you do not use a high-powered blender, anything with a * will need to be ground up into a powder before adding, using preferred method such as food processor/grinder. Otherwise, a standard blender will not break up the ingredients for the proper smoothie consistency.

If you have any experience/advice with raw foods please let me know, as I am always interested to learn more. I hope this entry was informative and I strongly suggest adding raw foods to your diet.

Outstanding!

I would absolutely love this. But, I would like to see a picture of the smoothie :)

haha, yeah

I don't know how I didn't think of taking a picture of the actual smoothie.. I'll post one soon, but it definitely doesn't look like your typical fruit smoothie. This is a super smoothie ; ) and is packed with nutrients, like chlorella that change the color due to their green pigment...

I gotta give it to you Charles

that sounds delightful...
