Easy and Delicious Pasta

Pasta is one of the simplest foods to make- aside from actually making the pasta and the sauce : ) In this entry I'll cover the necessary steps to make a delicious pasta. This recipe is not specific in the sense that I suggest that you change the recipe to suit your preferences, as this is the beauty of cooking. For me, cooking is all about experimentation, trying new things, revising recipes and tweaking them to my preference. With pasta there are many options and variables to consider when preparing. For example if you are planning on making a pasta dish for yourself, and you prefer large amounts of coarsely chopped garlic then enjoy it that way! But on the other hand, if you are planning on having several guests for dinner who may have different taste preferences it would be wise to reduce the garlic and chop it finer to lower overall potency.

Ingredients: (makes roughly 6 servings)

  • 6 Cups Pasta of Choice -
  • 3 Cups Marinara (sometimes I enjoy switching the ratio to 3 Cups Pesto & 1 Cup Marinara
  • 1 Cup Pesto
  • Basil
  • Bell Pepper
  • Broccoli
  • Garlic
  • Onion
  • Portobello Mushroom
  • Nutritional Yeast (a tasty form of dried yeast that is rich in vitamins)


Directions:

Pasta:

  1. Cook pasta in pot with water and a dash of olive oil and salt.
  2. When pasta is adequately cooked, drain and lightly wash off starch with warm water.
  3. Be sure that your sauce is ready before adding the pasta
  4. Mix sauce with pasta, top with nutritional yeast and your pasta is ready to serve!

Sauce:

  1. Prepare your vegetables of choice for sauce.
  2. In your sauce pan add chopped onion, bell-pepper, and garlic first to let them cook and release some water.
  3. Then ad pesto and broccoli, reduce the heat level and let the vegetables cook with the pesto for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add Marinara, mushrooms and your other favorite spices to the sauce and combing thoroughly.
  5. Let the sauce cook on low heat for at least 15 minutes, remember to stir occasionally.
